A healing practice that is
Charnal Chaney is founder of Bold Yoga LLC. Ms. Chaney started focusing on her passion for yoga & meditation after closely experiencing and witnessing the impact of violence in her community. BOLD Yoga works to teach individuals how to self-regulate, build healthy self-esteem, & prevent violence in neighborhoods where responding to conflict with harmful behavior is the norm. Ms. Chaney graduated from Hermitage High School & is certified as a trauma-informed yoga instructor through “Breathe for Change”.
Rooted in Community
BOLD Yoga services are typically facilitated outdoors at local parks, community centers, & community organizations such as Anacostia Park, Oxon Run & Fort Dupont Park, United Planning Organization, Congress Park Community Center, & The TraRon Center. We primarily work in wards 7 & 8 with individuals ages 5-17 as well as adults who have themselves or whose families have been impacted by incarceration, poverty, & violence.
WEEK OF HEALING
Beginning in 2021, BOLD Yoga has organized trauma-informed events to bring together healers, youth, and community members to create safe spaces to participate in on-site yoga and meditation sessions while reflecting on their experiences with domestic violence, sexual assault, gun violence, homelessness, addiction and other societal ills.
